Sport and entertainment
During the tourism season, manifold watersports are on offer on the beach of Ammoudara e.g. parasailing, wind surfing, jet skiing, waterski and canoes.
A watersport center is located by one of the bigger hotels.
2 km west nearby Panthanassa there is a most picturesque fishing and yachting port.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can also be found in Ammoudara during the season, and all-year in the city and mainly in the Old Town of Iraklion.
